NAS-T-CAR

I had the unique opportunity of photographing a NASCAR race at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon for three days. Here are some photos I turned in, there may be more to come as I have more time to go through the thousands I shot this weekend.

It's a wonderful day for a rain dance.

Yesterday was a huge rain day for us. The National Weather Service said we got nearly 3 inches yesterday afternoon. Before it all ended I got out of the office and shot some pictures.

As I was driving down Main Street and grumbeling to myself about having to shoot weather art and get soaking wet in the process I noticed a pair of girls standing barefoot and soaking wet on the street corner. I managed to pull over and shoot the following picture from my open car door.

Of course after I saw that they were dancing in the rain I slammed my car door shut behind me and chased after them. When I caught up to them I inquired as to what they were doing and they told me about the non-profit they were starting and their status being declined by the state. Along with this came the cancellation of a benefit concert they would be holding in a park here in town. They said they were trying to wash their bad day away by dancing in the rain. "What better way to wash away a bad day than playing in the rain?" They inquired of me. I realized by the time they had asked me that playing in the rain had indeed made my day much brighter. Go play in the rain if you've got it today!

(no subject)

If there's one thing I hate more than subject lines I haven't come across it. So, in turn, this blog will be titled (no subject). It's just my little way of giving the finger to the guy that created the subject line on emails and blogs.

Picture time.

I shot these yesterday at the New Hampshire Decathlon. I was sent to photograph this kid who was in the lead at the time the competition was delayed for weather. Come to find out he ended up losing the whole contest by 400 points. He was our local in the top three though so, he was the centerpiece of the sports section.

Back to Work

Here are some snaps taken gingerly. I guess maybe we can call them ginger snaps for comedy sake.

Home..

My trip began as a simple time away from work helping my folks move from the house, in which, I grew up in Houma to Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Upon waking up from the haphazard slumber I endured through the night on the couch at my parent's new house, I learned that my cousin John had died in a motorcycle accident the night before. Acoording to the Public Informations Officer at the Houma Police Department, just lost control when he hit a puddle in the road after he passed his turn home to keep driving. He did everything he was supposed to do including laying the bike down and skidding but, inevitably slid into a telephone poll and died instantly.

I was shocked. I still am. He was 31 and had grown up only down the street really. He was like a brother to me. It's been two weeks now and it's still hard for me to talk about. Instead of polluting his beautiful life with words, I'll just show some pictures instead.

I love you John.

It's a mad mix this week.

Sorry for the lack of innovation found in this week's title. I'm a touch worn out from these past two weeks. Luckily I've got a little vacay coming my way. I'm making the journey from my current state of New Hampshire to my home of Louisiana. It seems as though it's been forever since I last visited in November of '07. My parent's are parting ways with the home that I was raised in, a lovely brick house painted white with a green roof. They're giving it up to pursue a new future in Baton Rouge which makes me so very proud of them. On the other hand, it makes me sad. Look for pictures next week.

Until then though, I've been kept very busy lately as Corey has been out of town doing a bit of family visiting himself. Here's what I came up with.

I'm starting a series of these. Beauty Including Baseball Lights is what I'm calling it.
